And we're back again with another edition of "why do my things not work?" This is, arguably, one of our favourite topics, as we just love to fix things (or, I suppose help you fix things).
The most common causes for a Drayton thermostat not clicking are a lack of batteries, a change in settings, or the need for a reset.
Now without further ado, let's get your thermostat back to .... um, thermostatting?
Now there are a lot of things that can go wrong with a thermostat and HVAC system. They're complicated machines with complicated parts, and if a single piece stops working, the whole thing goes down. Luckily for you, the most common part to fail is the thermostat! Now, what can go wrong with a Drayton thermostat?

This should be your first stop for every battery-powered device when it stops working. We always insist that we replaced the batteries, "just the other day!" right up until we swap them out indignantly, only to see the display light up. Don't be that guy - replace your batteries. And while we're at it, if you're not using rechargeable batteries, why? They make your life so much easier and serve as a visual reminder that, "oh yeah, those are due for a change."
Long story short, dead or dying batteries can lead to a number of things that you might not expect, such as:
So if you notice any (or all) of these - consider swapping those batteries out for freshly-charged ones.

This should be your second stop for all devices in your home that use electricity. While your Drayton thermostat should be battery-powered and wireless, your HVAC system isn't. Go to your circuit breaker (don't worry, I'll wait).
Okay, now that you're at the main, do you notice any breakers flipped? If so, flip those bad boys right back to the on position and wait. You should, in a matter of minutes, hear your HVAC kick back on - and if you were at your thermostat, you'd likely hear that beautiful "click" that we've missed so much.
If this is a recurring problem, you may need to make some changes to your electrical system. Try moving your HVAC to a separate circuit or removing other electronics from that circuit. It's possible that there's just too much going on with that particular circuit to function properly.

Now for the final "easy" fix. Take a look at your Drayton thermostat's settings. There are a few things that could be happening here:

If you're unsure still what's causing your Drayton thermostat not clicking, there's one easy fix to try before either replacing the thing or calling an HVAC engineer. You can manually reset your Drayton thermostat to factory settings, essentially putting it back to a blank slate. To do this:
Drayton wireless thermostats are awesome - right up until they stop working. If you've noticed a change in your HVAC's performance (such as short cycling or a full stop in function), your best first bet is to look at the thermostat. Begin by replacing the batteries and checking that the breaker hasn't flipped, as these are commonly overlooked and easy fixes. After that, move on to the thermostat's settings. Ensure they haven't changed, and if they have, reset them.
After that, it's time to perform a manual reset. By doing this, you're bringing your thermostat back to a "blank slate," allowing it to restart, so to speak. If none of these solutions solved the issue, it's likely time for a new thermostat and/or a visit from your friendly local HVAC engineer. And if you find yourself in the market for a new wireless thermostat, check out our guide to the best wireless thermostats available today - you may find a nice new toy.
And as always, don't hesitate to call a professional for help. They exist to make your life easier, and believe it or not, they do their job rather well. They'll pinpoint the problem much quicker than you'd be able to, and get you back up and running in no time.
