"It does exactly what I wanted"

"I was looking for something that will give a very very fine grind for making Turkish style coffee after my daughter brought me some beans back from her holidays. It does a lovely job getting the fine, almost powder like, grind I wanted and with a small adjustment does just as well with coarser grinds for espresso or filter use. I plan on using this both at home and in my camper so it`s going to be very useful. The top part is made from strong plastic, is nicely textured giving a nice feel and makes it easier to hold when grinding with the silicon cover to stop your beans from popping out, although its easy to move out the way to put them in. The handle is sturdy and the knob is large enough to not catch your fingers. The jars are made from thick glass one with a lid made from the same plastic as the top that seems pretty airtight and is a neat way to take beans with you when you go away. They also have a neat silicon cover for the base of the one used on the grinder that helps stop it from slipping about on a worktop. I think that it is certainly good value for the price, I`m very pleased with mine. It does have something that can be seen as a down side to it, the time it takes. as it is a mill it doesn`t want to be turned to fast to avoid generating heat, something that can spoil the taste of the coffee and possibly damage the burs. I think the seller says that it takes around 150 turns for an espresso so it`s not going to be quick but it does it job very well. I`ve done a bit more than that, I drink coffee very strong probably around double the normal so it did take a few minutes but the result was worth it."

"Sturdy little grinder"

"A sturdy little grinder that works really well"

"Cost effective option"

"Fist of all this is a great grinder given its price, it can make a much better cup of coffee using hole beens whan compared to pre-grinds. With that said, there are a few gripes that I have with this product. The grind quality is only acceptable and the grind settings are not very easily reproduced. You will make a few cups to dile the grind settings in for a coffee and if you want to try out some other coffee your previous settings a basicly lost. Which is understandable given it's price. But my biggest gripe is the bar code sticker on the back of the grinder. It leaves a lot of residual which is very notesable on clear plastic. It took me 30 minutes with rubbing alcohol and a micro fiber cloth to remove filly. If there where no bar code sticker this would be a 5 star product."

"I am the only one that drinks coffee at my house and I like it as "real" as possible, so I don't need a big mill. This product has helped me with getting the right "thickness" of coffe to use different methods (french press, house coffee machine, espresso machine, etc.). I love it that this is manual, is like my morning ritual."

Where to buy UNIFUN Handheld Stainless Coffee Grinder?

Consideration Points:

Burr Type: Win: The La Cafetière Origins Grinder boasts a burr grinding system, which offers a consistent grind and, consequently, a superior brew.

Grind Settings: Loss: This grinder doesn't appear to have adjustable grind settings. While it might be perfectly fine for a casual coffee drinker, those who like a bit more control over their brew might find it a bit limiting.

Portability: Win: It's a compact, manual grinder, making it quite portable. Perfect if you fancy a good coffee while camping, travelling, or just short on kitchen space.

Capacity: Loss: Given its compact design, this grinder's capacity isn't enormous. It's more suited for a cup or two, not for large batches of coffee. That might be a drawback if you're often brewing for a crowd.

Build Quality: Win: It's made of durable materials, including a robust copper finish. It has a certain vintage charm, and it's built to last.

Product Summary:

The La Cafetière Origins Coffee Grinder is a bit of a showpiece, with its vintage design and striking copper finish. It's got a burr grinding system, which is always a win when it comes to getting a consistent grind.

However, it's not all about looks, is it? This grinder lacks adjustable grind settings, meaning you're a bit limited in terms of brewing flexibility. While it might not bother everyone, the more particular coffee enthusiasts among us might feel a bit restricted.

One of the real plusses of this grinder is its portability. It's compact, lightweight, and manual, meaning you can take it just about anywhere. Ideal for a good brew on the go. However, with portability comes a smaller capacity, so bear that in mind if you're usually making coffee for more than just yourself.

In summary, the La Cafetière Origins Coffee Grinder could be a great pick for you if you value aesthetics and portability and don't mind the lack of grind settings. Does that sound like your cup of tea, or rather, coffee?

"All good things come to those who wait."

"I've had one of these La Cafetiere grinders for a few years now & it works as well and looks as good today as the day it came out of the box. Adjusting the coarseness of your grind is a simple matter of unscrewing the brass top nut sufficiently to lift the two legged coupling and turning the circular nut up or down a little, once it's in place unless you use a variety of coffees that you like ground differently you can forget it until you disassemble it for cleaning. It is capable of a very broad range of coarseness from powder fine to heavy granules. A friend of mine has the same grinder and he has marked the nut with a small engraving tool for a couple of different coarseness settings. I completely disassemble the grinding assembly of mine to clean it about once a month. If you're more used to pre-ground or instant coffee be warned. IT TAKES A WHILE TO HAND GRIND COFFEE! I can only assume the people in other reviews complaining about that have never hand ground in the past or have used cheap grinders that don't so much grind beans as crush and shatter them. Personally I've never minded the time it takes to hand grind, the aromas emanating from the grinder take me back to my childhood some fifty odd years ago when there was a specialist coffee shop in our local high street that carried hundreds of different coffees from all over the world and supplied custom blends to customers including several of the top London hotels and restaurants as well as dozens of discerning private customers, each of whom had their own drawer in the shop where they could collect grinds and beans they ordered without having to wait. This shop didn't sell cups of coffee, it wasn't like Starbucks, the only coffee ever served there was for customers to test different beans and blends, this was a place where you could buy the best of the best to make at home. I was fortunate enough in my twenties to be left one of those drawers in a friends will, there was a long waiting list for them, you couldn't sell your drawer, but you could gift it to someone in your will, the only other way to get one was to wait until someone gave one up or died, I kept mine for about eight years until sadly the shop closed down, after almost a century of supplying their amazing wares demand had waned too much to keep the place running, an early victim of the instant satisfaction demanded by so much of modern society. For years afterwards you could still smell the aroma of coffee in that shop, it had permeated into every part of the wood and brickwork, there was something both satisfying and comforting in that. The point of my brief digression here is to illustrate that when you hand grind you're getting something more than you'll ever get out of a jar of instant or even from a pre-ground and that as I said in the title of this review "All good things come to those who wait". I cheat a little with it, I only drink coffee in the mornings so I only need enough to make up a pot full each morning, I spend a little time every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening grinding enough for the next few days and store it in a vacuum sealed jar to keep it fresh. If you prefer to grind for each time you make coffee it really only takes a few minutes and the results are more than worth the effort. There are cheaper grinders out there, but it's all about the quality of the build and materials, some I've found are a little flimsy in comparison. I paid a little under £30.00 for mine and I'd say that was a good price for it."

"Emergency coffee grinder delivered in hours"

"Having discovered my bags of fresh coffee were beans and not ground, I immediately sent for this hand machine. I was delighted by the speed of delivery but having read some of the reviews, expected a box of broken glass. Everything was perfect and after a quick grind to clean the disks, I set about preparing my supper and breakfast cups. Now I'm used to electric grinders which will do a bag in few minutes but after seeking coffee expert advice, I was assured that bladed grinders destroy the structure and it is better to crush the beans in devices such as this. The resulting grind was exactly the correct uniform size with no large lumps or powder. However, the effort to produce just 4 spoonfuls of coffee is great and my arm is still numb. I will therefore greatly appreciate and savour my favourite drink even more knowing how much energy I used. I will soon start challenging arm wrestlers. UPDATE how to avoid hard work!! The photos show: Remove the nut and handle, Replace with suitable nut, Insert suitable socket in electric drill, Drive slowly but with out effort. Hope this helps and you can always revert to manual with a bit of effort releasing overtightened nut."

"The best way to have a fresh coffee"

Where to buy GOURMEO Professional Manual Coffee Grinder?

Why are manual coffee grinders better than their alternatives?

Now, you might be thinking, "Dale, why should I bother with a manual coffee grinder when I can just use an electric one?" Well, let me tell you, my friend, there's a world of difference. First off, manual grinders give you full control over the grind size, ensuring the perfect consistency for your brew. Ever had a cup of coffee that's too bitter or too weak? That's likely due to an inconsistent grind, and manual grinders can save you from that.

Another point in favour of manual grinders is the freshness. When you grind your own beans, you're unlocking those heavenly flavours and aromas that are lost in pre-ground coffee. Plus, manual grinders don't generate as much heat as their electric counterparts, which means you won't be losing any of those precious flavours during the grinding process.

Lastly, let's talk about sustainability. Manual grinders don't require electricity, which means they're better for the environment and your wallet. And isn't it nice knowing you're doing your part to save the planet while enjoying a cracking cup of coffee?

Consideration points when buying a manual coffee grinder:

  1. Burr type: Ceramic or stainless steel? Ceramic burrs are durable and stay sharp for a long time, but stainless steel burrs are also sturdy and tend to be more affordable. Which one suits your needs better?
  2. Grind settings: How many grind settings does the grinder offer? Are you a French press fanatic or an espresso enthusiast? Make sure the grinder you choose has a wide range of settings to cater to your preferences.
  3. Portability: Planning to take your grinder on the go? Look for a compact, lightweight design that can easily fit in your bag without weighing you down.
  4. Capacity: How many beans can the grinder hold? If you're brewing for a group, you'll want a larger capacity, but if it's just you and your cuppa, a smaller grinder might do the trick.
  5. Build quality: Is the grinder made of sturdy materials that can withstand daily use? A well-built grinder is a long-term investment that's worth the extra quid.

So, there you have it! Armed with this knowledge, you're ready to find the best manual coffee grinder and take your coffee game to new heights. Happy grinding, folks!
