Common SALUS Wireless Thermostat Problems

There are three common issues that arise with SALUS wireless thermostats. Batteries, connection, and location. They're all the same issues that you'll experience with other wireless devices like phones, earbuds, and other smart home devices. At the end of the day, it boils down to knowing how wireless devices work, and what common issues with all of them are. Generally, the fix is similar, regardless of if it's a phone, doorbell, or thermostat.

Batteries

The most common technical fixes are replacing dead or improper batteries and the infamous, "did you turn it off and back on again?" These are common for a reason - they often fix the problem. So before you scoff and move on... maybe try turning it off and back on again.

Remembering to replace batteries regularly is important for all electronics that rely on them. Believe it or not, batteries have a lifespan, just like everything else!

Generally, lithium-ion batteries (the most common commercial battery) will last 2-3 years.

If they're rechargeable, they can also die out after a certain number of power cycles (usually ~300 or so).

Connection

To fix an unpaired device , simply turn off the device and wait. Once both lights are flashing, and the red light becomes solid, you've re-paired your devices. Easy, right?!

Location

As I said above, location plays a prime part in establishing a stable connection with wireless devices. Just like your phone, your thermostat needs to be able to easily communicate with its receiver. Putting it in places with thick concrete, multiple walls in the way, or even outside can cause serious connection issues.

If you've tried every step above to no avail, it may be time to consider relocating your thermostat. While the best spot may not be the most ideal, it's going to make your device function more easily.

For example - if your receiver is in your basement, maybe don't put the thermostat on the top floor of your home? While it sucks to have to go downstairs to use your thermostat, it's worse to have it unable to connect due to poor placement.

If none of these fixes seem to be solving the issue, there are a few other things to check before giving up. Look at:

• Your app
  • Sometimes software is the problem, rather than hardware. Try uninstalling and reinstalling your mobile app and see if that resolves the issue.
• Other hardware
