Ironing is very useful because it helps to remove the wrinkles from clothes. How you present yourself out there really shows how you feel about yourself. So, ironing is just one of the simple ways to enhance your appearance and portray a good image of yourself to the world. Not all households around the world have an ironing board , perhaps, due to lack of space or for financial reasons. However, this doesn’t hinder them from having their clothes ironed because there are alternative ways to ironing without an ironing board. Reading this article in its entirety will show you how to iron without necessarily using an ironing board. The key feature that is needed to achieve success in your ironing is a flat surface.

First, you have to choose the most suitable flat surface in the house to do your ironing safely. The surface should be at a comfortable height and completely flat like a table or floor.Having done that, you need to cover the area with a fabric that is larger than the items you are ironing. The chosen place should be near an electric outlet so that you can easily plug in the iron to start using.
Secondly, check whether the chosen surface is resistant to heat. For safety purposes, plastic surfaces are to be avoided totally.
This is because they can melt as a result of the heat being produced by the iron at work. It is possible to have the whole surface melting even if you are covering it with a fabric since it is not a heat-resistant material. Surfaces made of wood, tile and metal are the ideal ones to be used. Thirdly, the cover used on the surface you’ve chosen should also be a heat-resistant fabric like wool canvas or linen. A thick fabric like a towel or flannel blanket is another recommended choice. Delicate fabrics like lace material can be easily burnt or melted and therefore, they should be avoided. When all this is done, it is time to iron your garments. Plug in the iron box and set it to the recommended heat setting on the garment to start the ironing process. After continuous ironing, you are required not to let the surface get too hot. Also, the iron box should not face down at any given moment when not in use while it is plugged in the power outlet. This can cause serious damages on the surfaces. Therefore, make sure you always turn off and unplug the iron box when not in use.

In the market there are blankets that can be used for the sole purpose of ironing. With these blankets, you can start ironing your clothes as soon as you place them on a stable and sturdy surface including the top of the bed. This alternative is ideal to be used anywhere in the house as long as there is a plug nearby. As if that is not enough, you can even use the blanket on your desk to iron small creases at once in the middle of your working session.Apart from the special ironing blanket, there is also a magnetic ironing mat that is placed on top of the clothes dryer. This one is limited to only people with the clothes dryer. For stability, there are the magnets to hold the mat in place and the thick fabric reduces the amount of heat being transferred to the metal as you iron. The material used in constructing the ironing pad is cotton/polyester which is heat-resistant and can be left in place all the time or rolled up to store.
Ironing clothes is a tiring yet useful task. Even if you do not have an ironing board, clothes are to be ironed to remove creases and wrinkles. I can’t say for sure that working without an ironing board is easy but when you utilize the alternatives mentioned above, you can achieve wrinkle-free garments with ease. Another thing to consider is after drying your clothes in the dryer, it is always good to remove them when they are still dump and dry them out in the sun. This way, most of the creases disappear as heat from the sun hit them to reduce the ironing task. When ironing, you should never iron directly on a wooden surface, stone, carpet or bedding surface. Always cover the surface before you commence the ironing.
